Who would have guess that just from a simple mistake of phone number, a love could blossom. Who would have known than both individuals was in the same room before this, not knowing that destiny have written that both of their path would crossed. It’s a classic case of serendipity, and in certain situation, its like the movie You’ve Got Mail, only to changed it to You’ve Got SMS and I would be Meg Ryan and she is Tom Hanks.
It all started out from a simple SMS, wanting to find an acquaintance who are doing road project to which I replied that it could be me. Yeah, we Civil Engineers can do wonders with structure and infrastructure. When I mentioned my name Paival Yahya, that person replied that it was a wrong number. Then I asked what’s the name of the person he or she was looking for, Noriv was the reply. Throughout the years of me working, meeting clients and contractors, my name have always been pronounce wrongly. So I naturally thought that it was me, so I replied that is also my name, only to know a few months later that the person was supposed to be Nor Affendy. How did Nor Affendy get changed into Noriv is still a mystery to me.
Then I was asking how did she got my number. At this point I already knew the sender is a female. She did mentioned that she used to study at UiTM Shah Alam Campus. There’s two this running in my mind at that time. Firstly, I never knew anyone from Uitm and secondly I never gave out my number to any women. Seriously I don’t, not since 2004. And most of the time, I would give my number if it was asked for. In this story, during the last DBKK 2009 Treasure Hunt, she sat at the same table with Nor Affendy and they exchanged phone number. She forgot to save it on her phonebook, only to remember the few digits on the front and was guessing the digits at the back. We have the same phone number except for the last 2 digits where his is 67 and mine is 76.
It was around June, I think, that we started to frequently texting each other. Being single at that time; well I soon know that she just broke up at that time, having someone new to talk to was fun, even though it was through SMS. Little that we know, both of us started to fall for each other. Mind you, we had never met before and by doing so is a very risky business. But then again, she actually saw me a few time without me realizing that it was her. From there on I received a rose from her. It’s very uncommon for me that a woman giving a rose.
So there it was, placed on the windscreen on my car. I was practically took one step backward when I first saw it, looking left and right, tying to find if the sender is still around. I didn’t notice that a bunch of people, who sent the rose, was spying on me. We tried to meet afterward but somehow, we were not destined to meet yet, so we continued to texting and calling each other. Then the second flower came, the same place, on the windscreen of my car.
Still, every time we tried to see each other, something came up! The thing is, she is working with a company that provide the hardware for those who uses 3G broadband, and every time there is a problem or complaint, they are the ones who would go and fix it. To top that, her cousin, let us call him Inglourious Basterd, is into her and wanted to marry her, and would do just about anything imagined to avoid me seeing her. When I say anything, I mean anything! One instance that I remembered, he practically banged her head on his car dashboard to snatch her handphone and broke her simcard in two, just so that we stopped texting each other. Seriously! It feels like I’m in an Indonesian drama where the bad guys always win. Trust me people, that’s only the tip of the story, the rest I think I just keep it to myself. No point of talking about it anymore. I can tell you this bit, he, using his tear, really crying his heart, told her family that I left her because of the “thing” he did at Tawau. At the time when I got to know about it, a month late that is, I thought to myself, this is one hell of very manipulative person. Sick and manipulative. And he secretly had arrange for Nikah scheduled at the end of December. You see, both of us didn’t know about this, but thank to her cousin for letting us know.
On her birthday, although she’s in Tawau working, I sent her a bouquet of flower, sent it over to her house. It did stir up her household because it was actually from me, which they didn’t expect.
I think we were destined to known each other and never to met because soon after the bouquet of flower, her company informed her that they wanted to send her for training in Japan and waiting for confirmation. The training would take about two months to complete. Since I’ve been accused by Inglourious Basterd of things I never done, this time around, I suggested her to take that offer. She has been through rather difficult and complicated love relationship that I think she need it. Plus, I just ruined Stupid Bastard’s attempt to marry her and went for honeymoon to Netherland if I’m not mistaken, scheduled for early of January next year, which he confidently bought the package. Ahh… sweet revenge 🙂 I heard that he is trying to sell back the honeymoon package.
Her going to Japan came with a price to me. Thanks to Inglourious Basterd doing, he had made a few peoples life miserable, wrecking peoples marriage, and both of us feel that this shouldn’t had happen. She made me promise to try to forget her and opened up to other possibilities. I will try to forget her but I’m not sure about opening up, I think I have had enough for this year. If anything, it will be next year, fresh start. I want to enjoy the rest of this year smiling. Before she fly to Japan, she requested to hear me singing and playing the guitar. OK, let me be honest here. I have a very funny voice, some says I sound like Malay dubbed Nobita from the famous Japanese cartoon, Doraemon, and I am only a hobbyist guitarist, so I’m not that good at it either. But still I try my very best. Try take a listen.

Yeap, I do sound funny.
So with this entry, mark the closing of another chapter. To Uncle Shazwan and Aunty Sheila, please listen to what you daughter have to say. She may have done a lot of mistake in the past, and believe me she is regretting it. I just want to tell you that we had never yet been able to meet, to go out on a date, not even “slept” with her. The story about us sleeping together was to toy around with Inglourious Basterd. Use your judgement, who on earth would want to glorify that they had slept together? Who? We didn’t anticipate that Inglourious Basterd was a cry baby and reported it to Aunty Sheila. And because of that piece of prank, he did the unthinkable at Tawau. It was I who located her whereabouts that night from her GPS location. He is your relative but still he did the unthinkable. Which raise another question. How sure are you that he is not manipulating your family with his attic and stories. Stop thinking that he is a relative and think about the things he had done. It’s not very fair to me where I was not even given the chance to be heard or known. If me saying this very doubtful, please ask your eldest daughter. She can verify my story. Please don’t throw away your daughter future just because he is a “relative”. Seriously, if you think back what he had said that night to your family, it is very contradicting to each other.
Who is this mystery girl? Her name is Shaliz Shamie Bte Shazwan, and I will cherish every SMS and phone call that we had.
Why all of this happened? Maybe because I did said I missed being in a relationship in my previous post, and I was given a brief chance of it, probably to fuel my long journey ahead. I am glad though, because I had somehow touched someone’s life and made a positive impression while at it. Small changes that her family failed to take noticed.
Good bye my love.
